The Father-Son Chat

Germans, in a fairly cynical mood....can display a bit of humor about serious political topics.

I noted this morning....off social media.....a German made the comment: "Just asked my son to do something around the house. He replied that there had to be a European solution first."

Naturally, it's a slam on German politicians and the whole immigration business (no national policy)....but it also lays out the humor found by most working-class Germans.

You can go and drag out the EU 'carpet' and wash it over forty times....until there is no color left....then people start to laugh over the joke.

There's not a week that passes, where some German politician utters some excuse that a new round of EU efforts will start up....to finally get the Jesus-type solution for the migration/asylum/immigration situation.  The public TV crowd gives them as much talking space as required, and everyone feels good after the comment is uttered (like an alcoholic who has been off the stuff for a week and calms down upon getting a good double-shot).

The fact that fewer and fewer people believe this Jesus-solution via the EU?  Well....don't bring this up, because it just begs questions that can't be answered.

Why the EU can't build the perfect solution?  Well....the rules built into the system from several decades ago....say that all members must agree.  Since Poland, Hungary, Czech are firmly against the Jesus-solution, and Austria standing on the fence as well half-the-time.....this solution can never be built.

The idea that no solution will exist in 2030?  That's really the more comical thing....letting the joke linger until it's humor-possibility has dissolved away.

The idea of the 'father' just saying 'enough'....kicking the son out of the house, and resolving the problem on his own?  It's a harsh reality.
