Last night, ARD news brought out a new twist in the flood business from two weeks ago....investigations are now underway for negligent homicide/negligent bodily harm.
The jest of this? There are a number affected by the flood business and losses (including dead relatives/family members). They believe that local city or state authorities didn't do enough to prevent the flood or sound the alarm.
The prosecution folks? They are taking statements and looking at past history of these communities.
What'll happen? At the very least, the prosecution will determine that regional authorities did come out with a flood warning (the triangle business), and that public TV had the symbiology up and noted. What happens after that...is the real question-mark.
For most Germans, if you say 'strong rains' are coming...they interpret that to generally mean regular flooding, which they've probably encountered at least once every decade or two. This means a rush of water up to your knees on the street....basements flooded out....but no deaths.
How this will go in the end? Anyone's guess. Some mayors might be looking at legal woes, and future elections might be difficult to fill empty positions because no one wants to be held responsible.
