It was an odd topic that Focus brought up there in the AM today (Tuesday). Germany is now experiencing a shortage of workers, and it's noticeable.
It goes down to various jobs: nursing/caregivers, truck drivers, and regular skilled people.
On the craftsmanship side, the hint is about 250,000 folks are missing right now. The stat's on truckers? There's around 930,000 truckers in Germany presently, but oddly enough....almost a third of them are over the age of 55....meaning in the next ten years....they will retire.
After you read the whole piece.....the next decade is going to be a pretty rough period, and these types of people-shortages is going affect everyday life.
You might like to move into a assisted living facility in your region at age 75....but come to discover that while they have rooms....the caretaker crowd situation is only 60-percent manned....so they put you on a 3-year waiting list.
You might have a leak on your roof, and while talking to five or six different roofers about a serious roof job.....none of them can get to it for at least two months.
You might walk into your grocery to see 10-percent of shelves mostly empty. You ask 'Karl' (the clerk) about this, and he notes that the warehouse truck delivery which used to be five days a week.....is now only three days a week. Chief reason? A shortage of truckers to get products to the warehouse, and from the warehouse to the grocery store itself.
German society needs every single kid on some job-skill training plan, and pushed to achieve success.
