Five Items From German News

 1.  I noticed off Focus this morning....some hype over the lack of manpower.  German government is saying that 400,000 people are missing from the work-force, and because of this.....immigration has to be 'turned-on' to allow the jobs to be filled.

Current unemployment rate?  As of April....5-percent.

2.  Curious question thrown at the Chancellor yesterday.....some gal complained over rising parking fees at her hospital job....which is managed/run by the Chancellor's brother.  Chancellor responded that he had some agreement with the brother....neither would get on each other's case about decisions made.

Is parking going up?  I think most Germans who try to park in some urban area (like Frankfurt or Wiesbaden)....are shocked today over what it costs for four hours of city parking.

3.  Thirty-one million Germans are making use of the 9-Euro monthly ticket scheme (we are at the half-way point).

4.  I noticed Putin offered ALL Ukrainians a Russian passport....open-door for naturalization.

5.  In the midst of some kid's birthday party here in my local town (Wiesbaden)....some guy shows up and threatens all guests with a knife.   Parents call the cops....shortly after that, the police arrive, and arrest the guy.  Alcohol test?  Hefty at 1.9.....probably will end with a month in jail, and some forced alcohol rehab program.
