Top German News of the Day

 1.  Poll was done over the weekend over political voting, if you had an election today.  INSA folks did it, so it has some reliability.

SPD would come in around 3rd place with 19-percent of the vote.  CDU would get 28-percent.  Greens?  22-percent.  SPD has fallen a good bit from public standing in past six months.

2.  Nord Stream I (the pipe bringing natural gas in from Russia)....will shut down for about ten days starting today...for regular summer maintenance.  There is this odd suggestion that the Russians will not turn it back on....at the conclusion.  Proof?  None. But this chatter is going on and it's not a positive thing.

3.  The case of the Trier drunk driver who killed several folks is about to conclude.  There is a discussion going on....can a lesser outcome occur when the person has a mental or alcohol disorder?   In this particular case, there is a schizophrenia issue involved....plus some alcohol abuse.
