Well....I would imagine four things are open to be discussed....some will be accepted....some won't.
1. Somehow....someway....bring in more LNG. Odds of this happening before December? I'd give it less than a 30-percent chance. The Germans are working on a mobile-dock and some arrangements with countries to ship it in. Qatar is likely to be the supplier....if rumors hold true.
2. Burn more coal. Coal power plants were supposed to be on a closure list by 2030, with mining to be halted. I think they've gone to the attitude that coal will be around past 2030....but just wanting to admit to the environmentalists what they signed up to.
3. Nuke plants (3) to close by December? Rumors suggest that a document will be signed to let them continue operating. Chief issue? Well.....the rod business is limited and they said back in April....there were enough rods on hand to run through spring of 2023. If you wanted more procurement....the companies wanted a signed document stating a date.
My humble view is that something will come by September....to say a ten-year 'life' has been given to the three plants.
I should note....three (already closed) nuke plants are in some type of discussion...if they could come back on-line....requiring a full-year of maintenance, before they could operate. This rumor goes along the way that the companies want a 20-year life package offered up. Anyone's guess where this discussion will go.
4. Finally, to the topic of fracking. Lot of chatter going on about how much exists in Germany, and the general suggestion is a 20-year collection of natural gas....for the country's needs. It's apparently in one single region.
Environmentalists would go crazy if this was signed off. My humble view is that come January.....with cost at some fantastic level, and the Russians trimming the amount coming into Germany.....the public will demand fracking occur, with some 'clean' method invented out of thin air.
This will bring a lot of discussion, and finally be signed off by late spring of 2023 (I believe)....allowing some fracking to occur....only under clean methods.
