It came up via Focus today...a discussion over the Bahn (railway). So....here in June of 2022....the Bahn had the crappiest on-time schedule in the past dozen years. It arrived on time....88-percent of the time.
I sat and looked at the chatter.
Personally, compared against Italy or a number of European countries....88-percent would be perfectly fine.
A lot of the blame for June? Well....the 9-Euro monthly ticket business.
My grumbling? I hate the idea of arriving at a station....ready for a 90 minute ride, and the train won't be arriving on time for 20 minutes because of various delays. Then about halfway into the trip....the train halts for 20 minutes at some station because the track is not clear for the next leg of the trip. So, in the end.....my 90-minute trip took almost 160 minutes.
But here's the rough part of this story....the pro-train and anti-plane crowd want to enlarge the rider-force in Germany.....adding another 25-percent onto the current load over the next decade.
I shake my head over this....it's just not a practical vision of the future....unless you convinced people that late trains are normal, and we need to just get used to it.
