1. Germans halted all fracking in 2017.
2. This LNG situation being cooked up with ships to bring liquid natural gas from the US to Germany....to make up for the Russia issue....has one significant problem. All of this US natural gas was obtained via fracking. So as innocent as the Germans see themselves....they are contributing to the evils of fracking (if they exist).
3. If Germany turned on fracking.....there are three areas of the country where reserves are noted: Lake Constance area, Lower Saxony, and the state of NRW.
4. There are different estimates on the amount existing....but generally, it's believed from the three sources discussed.....there's enough to power all of Germany's needs for about 20 years.
5. Even if Germany suddenly got pro-frack....the experts generally say it'd take 3 years to get the equipment in place, and start to produce. So getting pro-frack at this point.....is a waste of time for the approaching problem in the winter. I should note though....no one believes the Russia problem goes away in the spring.
Final note....various individuals from the Green Party are willing to discuss the matter today, which is an indication of how far the chaos has brought the topic.
