Q-and-A

 1.  Musk-Twiiter deal halted?  Yes....mostly to what Musk says is the number of bot/fake accounts.  Twitter to sue Musk?  They say this.

I would suspect in court, an engineer will state their facts, and the judge orders an independent review....with the Twitter facts to be heavily disputed.  Judge will offer Twitter a chance to accept $30B offer instead (which Musk is willing to accept).  Twitter share-holders will go ballistic, as even that is refused.  Nothing happens in the end....end of saga.

2.  What is this Uniper situation developing in Germany?

The biggest natural gas company had a deal for Russian natural gas.....X-amount for X-cost.  They had tons of Germans signed up with contracts.

When the Russians changed their cost dynamic....by the time that the legal notices were sent out to the German customers....Uniper was deep into a massive financial hole.  Adding to this....Uniper had a billion-plus Euro invested in Nord Stream II (still sitting there and unapproved for use).

Uniper is said to be on the verge of failure....unless the German government comes in to 'save' them.  What'll happen?  Some point to the recent program that Lufthansa engaged upon....when it seemed doomed, and government help was applied in exchange for stock.  Just a temp deal?  Well....until the market stabilizes....this 'help' would be required.  So it could be several years of 'help'.  In simple terms....tax revenue will save Uniper, and it won't be a lousy 100-million Euro.

3.  What happened at this SPD Party summer fest?

Well....if you follow Focus....the story goes this way.  Some political party members gathered up in Berlin on Wednesday.  Eight women reported 'problems'.  Examination reports 'knock-out' drops in the drinks.

Yeah, police are investigating and this is a pretty wild accusation to make.

Some political guy doing this?  Well....you don't know anything much other than 8 women affected, and all are political figures in the Bundestag.

4.  Professional soccer requires heat?

Well....N-TV talked about this in the AM today.  At most all arenas....there is a tube system under the playing field, and on a typical game with frozen conditions (like you'd have in Jan/Feb).....a pump runs to heat the field so it's not frozen.  How much oil is used for this single game act?  They say around 2,000 liters of heating oil (a lot).

It's about as much as you'd burn in a single house....for a family....over a year.

So the chatter is....can you save in some way?  For the discussion....in case you were interested....the average heating oil liter is presently (July numbers) at 1.56 Euro, or for a gallon at 5.92 Euro.

5.  Covid increasing?

I looked at local numbers (Wiesbaden only), and out of the 293k population....around 2,010 folks now identified with Covid and on quarantine. Just yesterday (Friday)....569 new folks were brought onto the list.
