Irrigation Story

There was an interesting statistic I saw over Germany about a week ago....that's been on my mind.

The German Statistics Office reviewed acreage being irrigated and announced that around 1.25 million acres of German land is now irrigated.  It's up by one-third over a ten-year period.

Chief reason?  Well....there's been regional droughts and various farmers have seen the risk factor....put in the pumps (usually from streams or rivers) and tried to lessen their risk.

You can drive around the rural regions of Germany now, and view the efforts.  The odds of it increasing another third over the next decade?  Pretty good odds.
