After a long discussion yesterday between the German federal government and the sixteen state governments....a 'deal' was worked out on Ukrainian refugees.
So, from this point on....there will be a 'deal' where the refugees are given the same benefits as Hartz IV (German welfare class). The federal guys also agreed to cover accommodations. They will also get integration support and easier entry into the job-market of Germany.
Asylum paperwork? No. That was not going to be a requirement....because of the belief that most will return to the Ukraine somewhere down the line.
How many are registered now in Germany? 316k. On average....it's now around 3k a day that cross the border. Looking at the numbers, I'd easily say that they will have 400k by the end of April, and 500k by the end of May.

And as you mentioned before, the Ukrainian refugees will be easier to assimilate than the hordes of Syrian refugees allowed in earlier.
This week, the Germans indicated various backgrounds/past work would be easily validated...so if they wanted work, it won't be a big deal. Language is an issue, but the classes already exist. I've noticed a lot of the incoming crowd are English-speakers. But playing into this...it's mostly all mothers with kids....maybe a few retirees in the mix (maybe 1-percent males over age 18).
I'd also say the anti-refugee spin is really frowned upon. When you see it...it's pro-Russia chatter. Just not selling the brand well within the German public.
