Maybe.
The push here is that some Germans are getting to a point and asking....for all these decades of 'let's be close and friendly with the Soviet Union/Russia'....was this all a incompetent focus?
So from yesterday....the deputy chief of the CDU (Johann Wadephul) spoke up on a review of the German/Russia policy.
His statement: "Everyone is asked to ask at intervals: Were we too naïve? Did we assess the situation correctly?"
Is he mostly pointing at the SPD Party? Well...he made some comments that would go toward them. The problem here....you'd have various characters from the CDU Party (particularly Merkel) that might be just as naïve and stupid.
The energy policy for the past fifty years....all 'crapped-up'? I would go and suggest that no one really had a four-star agenda, and literally dozens of German politicians might have been bribed or pushed toward a Russian oil/natural gas 'deal'.
The one comical thing that can be openly discussed....once Trump zeroed in upon the natural gas business and Nord Stream II....Chancellor Merkel and crew quickly jumped into this and hyped up the idea of two ports being prepared for LNG shipments. The minute that Trump was voted out.....that hype for the two ports disappeared almost immediately and funds for the port construction dried up. It was like everyone in place....wanted the Nord Stream II project to continue on, and tie the country in a more direct way to increased Russian natural gas.
The odds of this truth commission actually occurring? I'd give it less than a 10-percent chance....neither party wants this focus at present.
