I often essay about crime in Germany and how it's changed over the past forty years. So this story came out today....over Berlin, and told by RBB (public TV in Berlin-City).
Over the weekend, a little 'war' broke in Berlin....with three attacks between an Arab criminal gang element and a Russian-Chechan gang element.
What cops will say is that 11 folks were pretty banged-up....no one dead though.
The trigger of the 'war'? What the authorities say is that for a number of years....the Chechen folks were hired-up as mercenaries and did work as contracted out. In recent months....the Chechen guys went to the next level....having their own gang, their own profits, and cutting others out of the competition.
Winners out of the three attacks? Not really....just a number of seriously injured or wounded folks.
Where this is going to lead onto? Unknown.
I doubt if the Arab gangs will desire to give up any of their business, and this is probably going to an episode where the Arabs eventually go find a new contractor 'muscle' unit (perhaps some African import gang, or some MS-13 El Salvadoran hits-squad) and come in and clean out the mess.
Berlin-City getting more interesting? Police will be scratching their head over these weekend events.

i dont think id even care to visit germany now .
You are correct Bob, the whole country has changed and not for the better. The lowlifes have invaded every city trying to sell you drugs outside the train station. And what’s more is that the Germans want us out anyway, so at this point it’s probably better if all the troops are repositioned into Poland. What once was will never be again.
Why are the troops there ? Defending what ?
I do a fair amount of traveling around Germany. I would make the observation that urbanization in big cities...has created a vastly different landscape than forty years ago. But once you leave the bigger towns, you find quiet places with relatively no noticeable crime. Hanau is a good example...as is Trier.
The bigger cities are simply ill-equipped to handle the amount of issues. Toss in the growth of drugs and clan-gangs....it's a overwhelming mess to clean up.
Last year, I made the observation of the 'weapon-zone' that Wiesbaden created (one of the first in the country to do so). The police have full authority to stop you after a certain hour and frisk you, if you are within a particular downtown zone. Any type of knife, it's an automatic fine...no waivers. There's not a single week that passes that they don't conduct the frisk episodes, and there's always a violation or two.
