The German federal government is having a Covid meeting today, with the sixteen state government groups.
Expectations? Lot of chatter....positions taken by party groups, and virtually no agreement expected.
Chief topic? What to do with the non-vax people. There are some folks with very harsh measures in mind, and making life as difficult as possible. Laschet has said this is not a very achievable goal, and could easily divide society.
Do pub-owners, and restaurant-bosses worry about the actions coming? All of them want to avoid what occurred in the fall and winter of 2020, with massive closures.
The free tests? Generally, the government can't afford to continue these, and it's treated as a bad thing to pay for the non-vax people to be tested regularly. However, some folks have pointed out that if vaccinated people still continue to get Covid....some test procedure will have to be brought back. My best guess is that it goes away in mid-September, and returns by late November.
An entire change to the seven-day incidence rate? Well...it's highly discussed, and various people want a new formula on how you reach 'warning' levels, and 'dangerous' levels. Some people believe that 'bad' Covid will lessen among the vaccinated crowd, and if fewer people show up in ICU situations.....it ought to reflect a better situation.
So, expect a lot of Covid chatter tonight via the public news crowd, and no real agreement.
