I went yesterday to the local German ATM for 'cash'. Routinely, I'll do this once a month for what I call 'walking-around-money'. Normally, it'll pump out a combo of 10s, 20s, 50s (in Euro).
So the output for me? All 100s (4 crispy bills).
I just stood there....they're totally worthless. My bakery doesn't want to deal with me. The local pub would only accept this if I were buying at least 50 Euro in beer (that will never happen). The lotto shop would demand at least 50 Euro in lotto purchases for acceptance. Getting a couple of pieces of fruit at the grocery....they're laugh and refuse the bills.
Other than buying around 75 Euro of fuel for the car (now normally the going rate)....I'm stuck with bills that can't be used.
